Yellow Fever Commission U.S. Army commission, ca. 1899–1902, formed to investigate the causes of yellow fever among Army personnel in Havana, Cuba. Under the direction of Maj. Walter Reed the commission identified the Aëdes aegypti mosquito as the vector of the disease, thereby making possible the eradication of the disease in Cuba by controlling its vector.
