Spring Hill, Battle of a battle on November 29, 1864, that served as a prelude to the larger Battle of Franklin on November 30, during the Civil War. Union Maj. Gen. John M. Schofield's troops managed to escape capture by Confederate Gen. John B. Hood at Spring Hill, in Maury County, Tennessee. It is still unclear how Schofield's men managed to slip by Confederate troops during this controversial battle of the Franklin and Nashville Campaign.
