North Vietnamese Army

North Vietnamese Army the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), the successor to the Vietminh as the national army of the Democratic Republic of (North) Vietnam. The PAVN bore the brunt of the fighting against South Vietnamese and U.S.-led Free World Military Forces during the Vietnam War, particularly after the disastrous Tet Offensive of 1968. In the spring of 1975, the PAVN invaded and quickly conquered South Vietnam.
