Malta Conference

Malta Conference an Allied meeting in Malta during World War II where the Americans and British disagreed over strategy for defeating Germany. The conference lasted from January 30 to February 2, 1945, and was the first phase of what was code-named “Argonaut,” conferences that began in Malta and were followed by the Yalta Conference. The British argued for a single push across northern Germany to Berlin and wanted most of the Allied supplies to go into that effort; American armies would be placed on the defensive. Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower's approach was to give that plan first priority but also to keep American armies on the move.
