Ledo Road Stilwell Road a highway constructed by U.S. Army engineers during World War II, from Ledo, Assam, India, across the Naga Hills, joining the eastern, Chinese-held sector of the Burma Supply Road near Wanting, Burma. The highway was built as a replacement for the Burma Road, the 717-mile (1,154-km) supply route between Burma and Kunming, China, which was destroyed by the Japanese conquest of Burma in 1942. Ledo Road was built at the request of Gen. Joseph Stilwell and was completed in January 1945. The highway was then renamed for Gen. Stilwell.
