Iron Triangle

Iron Triangle
1. the nickname for a Communist stronghold near Saigon during the Vietnam War. The area was generally defined by the Saigon River on the southwest, the Thi Tinh River on the east, and a line extending from Ben Cat to Ben Suc on the Saigon River on the north. Saigon was only 12 miles (20 kilometers) away.

2. the nickname for an area in North Korea extending from Pyongyang in the north at the apex, to the bases at Chorwon on the west and Kumwha on the east. This area, a central staging point for North Korean troops, was strategic terrain that was hotly contested.
