Dayton Accords peace agreements initialed at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, on November 21, 1995, by the three Balkan presidents. They were signed in Paris on December 14, 1995. Negotiated with the assistance of President Bill Clinton and other members of the United Nations, they established an international peacekeeping force in Bosnia-Herzegovina to end fighting in that region. They also sought to protect the return of refugees and the conduct of free local elections to establish a new republic in the region.
