Cilley, Joseph (c. 1734–99)
Revolutionary War soldier and politician, born in Nottingham, New Hampshire. In 1774 he was a member of a patriot group that raided British cannons, muskets, and other ammunition stores from Fort William and Mary (later Fort Constitution) near Portsmouth shortly before British vessels entered the harbor. During the war he was major, and later colonel, of the 2nd New Hampshire Infantry.
