Mexican War (1846–48) between Gen.
Winfield Scott and
Antonio López de Santa Anna, on Scott's campaign toward Mexico City. The American victory on August 20, 1847, along with the victory at
Contreras earlier in the day, led to Santa Anna agreeing an armistice the next day.
