Gettysburg where Union forces held against “
Pickett's Charge” on July 3, 1863. Cemetery Ridge and the adjacent
Cemetery Hill were Union strongholds against Confederate attacks commanded by Gen.
Robert E. Lee. Union Gen.
George G. Meade's defeat of Gen.
George E. Pickett at Gettysburg is considered the turning point of the Civil War.
