Cedar Creek, Battle of

Cedar Creek, Battle of a major Civil War battle in the Shenandoah Valley on October 19, 1864. The Confederate Army made a surprise attack on the Union encampment there, and though they held an early advantage, the North was eventually victorious under the leadership of Gen. Philip H. Sheridan.
