Appomattox Court House

Appomattox Court House a Civil War battle on April 9, 1865, in which Gen. Robert E. Lee decided to make one last try to escape the Union forces and reach the supply depot at Lynchburg. Union infantry arrived and surrounded Lee on three sides, and he surrendered to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant.
