hysterectomy (hiss-ter-ek-tŏmi) n. the surgical removal of the uterus, either through an incision in the abdominal wall (
abdominal h.) or through the vagina (
vaginal h.).
subtotal h. removal of the body of the uterus, leaving the neck (cervix) in place.
total h. removal of the entire uterus. See also
