gastro-oesophageal reflux

gastro-oesophageal reflux (GOR) (gas-troh-ee-sof-ă-jee-ăl) n. a condition in which the stomach contents reflux into the oesophagus because of impairment of the usual mechanisms preventing this. g.-o. r. disease the syndrome caused by abnormal gastro-oesophageal reflux, including symptoms of heartburn, regurgitation, and odynophagia, in which oesophagitis may be present.
