clinical audit (klin-i-kăl) n. a process by which doctors, nurses, and other health-care professionals systematically review the procedures used for diagnosis, care, and treatment against agreed standards, examining how associated resources are used and investigating the effects care has on the outcome and quality of life for the patient.
