bile-acid sequestrant (si-kwes-trănt) n. a drug that binds to bile acids, forming a complex that is excreted in the faeces. The reduction in bile acids causes cholesterol to be oxidized to bile acids, decreases low-density lipoprotein serum levels, and decreases serum cholesterol levels. See
