isidium
isidium (pl. isidia) An outgrowth from the thallus of a
lichen, 0.01–0.03 mm in diameter, that includes both algal and fungal cells. Isidia can detach from the main body of the lichen and serve as structures of vegetative propagation. Compare
soredium.
