Copyright
Tickell, Thomas (1685–1740), was author of various poems including
Oxford (1707),
On the Prospect of Peace (1713),
Kensington Garden (1722), and the sentimental
ballad Lucy and Colin (1725). But he is chiefly remembered as a friend and supporter of
Addison. He edited Addison's works (1721), publishing in the first volume an elegy on Addison's death.
