Talisman, The, a novel by Sir W.
Scott, published 1825, forming part of the
Tales of the Crusaders. The novel is set in the army led by Richard I of England to the Crusades. It chronicles the adventures of a poor but valiant Scottish knight, Sir Kenneth, who is caught up in the intrigues between Richard, the king of France, the duke of Austria, and the Knights Templar, and is eventually discovered to be Prince David of Scotland. The most striking portrait in the novel is that of Saladin, whose wisdom and chivalry is contrasted throughout with the scheming and corruption of the Christian leaders.

British climber conquered Everest three decades before Hillary H S Rao London, Oct 3 (PTI) A mountaineering expert today claimed that Sir Edmund Hillary was not the first man to scale Mount Everest, and that the feat was achieved three decades before the New Zealander by British climber George Mallory.

LEGACY : Sir Ed Hillary - Legacy to management ; Sir Ed Hillary has been credited with many things yet few have realised what a great CEO he was. Having climbed Mount Everest as a team member he subsequently achieved everything else as the CEO. I have been fortunate enough to read View from the Summit, by Sir Ed Hillary and Hell-bent for the Pole by Geoffrey Lee Martin. There are lessons there for business.
