Gothic Revival, and developed his thesis that Gothic was the only proper Christian architecture in
Contrasts: or, A Parallel between the Noble Edifices of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Centuries and Similar Buildings of the Present Day…(1836), an important work that foreshadowed
Ruskin and
Carlyle's Past and Present.
