Monthly Review (1749–1845), founded by the bookseller Ralph Griffiths. It was liberal in outlook and its contributors included Sheridan, Dr C. Burney, Goldsmith, and others. The term ‘autobiography’ seems first to have appeared in its columns, in Dec. 1797.
