Martinus Scriblerus, Memoirs of, a satirical work, directed against ‘false tastes in learning’, initiated by the
Scriblerus Club and written mainly by
Arbuthnot. It was printed in the second volume of
Pope's prose works in 1741.
The name ‘Martin Scriblerus’ was occasionally used by Pope as a pseudonym, and by
Crabbe in some of his earlier poems.
