Longest Journey, The

Longest Journey, The (1907), a novel by E. M. Forster.

It describes the short, frustrated life of Rickie Elliot, born lame, a schoolmaster and an aspiring writer; the plot centres on his relationship with his healthy ‘pagan’ half-brother, Stephen Wonham. Rickie dies while saving Stephen's life.
