‘Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood’

‘Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood’, an ode by Wordsworth, composed 1802–4/6, published 1807.

It is Wordsworth's most profound and memorable exploration of the significance of the intensity of childhood experience of the natural world (which suggests to him a state of pre-existence). The poem ends with a moving affirmation of the poet's faith in the powers of the philosophic mind and the human heart.
