The Triumphs of Temper (1781) and
The Triumphs of Music (1804), were ridiculed by
Byron. In 1805 his
Ballads on…Animals was illustrated by his protégé
Blake. He published a life of his friend
Cowper (1803) and was offered the laureateship in 1790, but declined it.
