The Journal, also called by Sterne the Bramine's Journal, was kept intermittently between mid-April and Nov. of 1767, and describes with fulsome pathos, often in the persona of Yorick, sometimes as ‘Bramin’ to ‘Bramine’, his love for the young Mrs Elizabeth Draper and his torment at their separation.
