Dream of John Ball, A

Dream of John Ball, A, a historical socialist fantasy by W. Morris, published in 1888. It takes the form of a dream in which the narrator is carried back to the early stages of the Peasants' Revolt in 1381; he encounters the ‘hedge-priest’ John Ball, and in their final night-long dialogue Morris both satirizes the 19th-cent. present and offers hope for a future.
