Cynthia's Revels, an allegorical comedy by
Jonson, performed 1600, printed 1601.
The play satirizes various court vices represented by characters whose names typify their failings. The song of Hesperus in Act V, ‘Queen and huntress, chaste and fair’, is one of Jonson's most beautiful lyrics.
