Casaubon, Isaac

Casaubon, Isaac (1559–1614), French classical scholar, born in Geneva of Huguenot refugee parents. From 1610 until his death he lived in London, receiving a pension from James I and becoming naturalized in 1611. Casaubon published critical editions and commentaries on the works of a number of ancient authors, chiefly Greek, including Theophrastus (1592).
