‘Arcades, Part of an entertainment presented to the Countess Dowager of Derby…’, by Milton, written ?1630–?3 possibly at the suggestion of his friend Henry Lawes, who wrote the music for the songs; published 1645.

This short piece consists of a song by nymphs and shepherds as they approach the seat of state of the countess, an address to them by the Genius of the Wood, and two further songs.
