Anne of Geierstein

Anne of Geierstein, or The Maiden of the Mist, a novel by Sir W. Scott, published 1829. It is set in 15th-cent. Switzerland. For his material on the Vehmgericht (one of its most interesting parts), Scott returned to Goethe's Götz von Berlichingen, which he had translated in 1799.
