Puteaux Group. A group of artists, affiliated with the Cubists, who met informally between 1911 and 1913 in the studios of Jacques
Villon and Raymond
Duchamp-Villon in the Parisian suburb of Puteaux. Their brother Marcel
Duchamp was also a member of the group, and others included
Archipenko,
Gleizes,
Gris,
Kupka,
Léger, and
Metzinger. The group (under the direction of Duchamp-Villon) produced a rather uninspired ‘Cubist House’ at the Salon d'Automne of 1912 and in the same year organized the Section d'Or exhibition. They criticized Analytical Cubism on the ground that it lacked human interest and introduced an interest in colour that led to
Orphism.
