Group X. A short-lived association of British artists, including some former members of the Vorticist movement, formed in 1919 with the aim of providing a focus for London's avant-garde and an alternative exhibiting venue to that of the
London Group. The association, whose name seems to have had no particular significance, held only one exhibition, in 1920, at the Mansard Gallery. Wyndham
Lewis, who wrote the introduction to the catalogue, was the leading figure of the group. The other members were Jessica
Dismorr, Frank
Dobson, Frederick
Etchells, Charles
Ginner, Cuthbert Hamilton (1884–1959), E. McKnight
Kauffer, William
Roberts, John Turnbull, and Edward
Wadsworth.
