Feito, Luis

Feito, Luis (1929– ). Spanish painter. He was born in Madrid, where he studied at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1954. After a figurative and sometimes nearSurrealist period, he turned to expressive abstraction and in 1957 was one of the founder members of El Paso, the group principally responsible for promoting Art Informel in Spain. His later paintings display isolated abstract or semi-abstract images upon a monochromatic background, creating a world of mysterious suggestion. Feito's work has been shown in many international exhibitions and he has won several awards. He has spent much of his career in Paris and in 1983 moved to New York.
