Esprit nouveau, L'. A periodical edited by
Le Corbusier and
Ozenfant, published in Paris from October 1920 to January 1925 (it was theoretically a monthly but appeared irregularly—28 issues in all). It was the main channel for promoting the ideas of
Purism, but it also provided a platform for other views on contemporary art (its subtitle was
Revue internationale illustrée de l'activité contemporaine). The contributors included Roger
Bissière, André
Breton, Jean
Cocteau, Max
Jacob, Fernand
Léger, Jean
Lurçat, the poet Blaise Cendrars, and the composer Erik Satie.
