Air art

Air art. A term describing various types of work using inflatable objects such as balloons. This kind of art had a vogue in the late 1960s, when exhibitions were devoted to it in France (‘Structures gonflables’ at the Musée d'Art Moderne, Paris, 1968) and the USA (‘Air Art’, Philadelphia Arts Council, 1968, and ‘Inflatable Sculpture’, Jewish Museum, New York, 1969). The term Sky art refers to a similar but broader category.
