Perkin Warbeck
Warbeck, Perkin
Warbeck, Perkin (1474–99) Flemish claimant to the English throne. Encouraged by Yorkists in England and on the Continent, he claimed to be Edward IV's son Richard, Duke of York (who had disappeared in 1483 – see
PRINCES IN THE TOWER), in an attempt to overthrow Henry VII. After a series of attempts to enter the country and begin a revolt he was captured and imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1497; he was later executed.
