Revere, Paul
Revere, Paul (1735–1818) US patriot and silversmith. He was one of the demonstrators involved in the Boston Tea Party of 1773, the protest at the imposition of tax on tea by Britain. Two years later he made his famous midnight ride from Boston to Lexington to warn fellow American revolutionaries of the approach of British troops; the journey is immortalized in Longfellow's poem ‘Paul Revere's Ride’ (1863).
