Mesolithic
A Dictionary of World History | Date: 2000
Mesolithic The Middle Stone Age, a transitional period between the
PALAEOLITHIC and
NEOLITHIC ages. Its people were the hunting and gathering groups that existed about 10,000 years ago as the climate became warmer at the end of the last Ice Age. In western Europe, Mesolithic hunting societies continued to exist at the same time as Neolithic farming groups further east.
