Lechfeld, Battle of

Lechfeld, Battle of (955) A major battle fought near Augsburg, in Germany, when the forces of the Holy Roman Emperor OTTO I defeated the MAGYARS. This put an end to their westward expansion and the long period of harassment which they had inflicted on the German empire.
