Grey, Lady Jane (1537–54) The ‘Nine Days Queen’ of England in July 1553. As a descendant of HENRY VII's younger daughter Mary, she had some claim to the English throne, and her father-in-law, John DUDLEY, persuaded EDWARD VI to name her as his successor. MARY I ousted her easily, and she was beheaded after her father had incriminated her further by participating in WYATT'S REBELLION.
