Ujamaa (Tanzania) A Swahili term for brotherhood, it describes the cooperative village units set up in Tanzania following the
Arusha declaration. As a result, the number of Ujamaas increased from 180 (comprising 58,000 people) in 1968 to around 7,000 (comprising over twelve million people) ten years later.
