Facta, Luigi (b. 16 Nov. 1861, d. 5 Nov. 1930). Last President of the Italian Council of Ministers 1922 Born near Turin, he became a Member of Parliament in 1892 and came to hold various ministerial posts in the Giolitti ministries. As de facto Prime Minister from February 1922 his efforts to stop Mussolini's advance through secret negotiations and then through force were at best unconvincing. Following the latter's March on Rome his government collapsed on 28 October 1922 to make way for Mussolini's Fascist takeover.
