Corfu Pact (20 July 1917) An agreement between the Serbian Prime Minister, Nicola Pasic (b. 1846, d. 1926), and the leader of South Slav refugees, Ante Trumbic (b. 1868, d. 1938). Concluded at the seat of the Serbian government-in-exile on the island of Corfu, at a time when Serbia was overrun by troops of the Central Powers, it provided for a unified state of Serbs, Croats, Slovenians, and Montenegrins after the war. It became the basis of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes set up after 1918, which became Yugoslavia in 1929.
