Confédération des Syndicats Nationaux (Confederation of National Trade Unions) The major Canadian trade union representing French-speaking workers. Founded in 1921 as an overtly Catholic, anti-socialist trade union (Canadian Catholic Federation of Labour), it became increasingly radical in the 1960s, when it adopted its new name. During the 1980s, it represented over 200,000 members, organized in around 1,700 individual trade unions.
