Pyrenees, battle of the, 1813. Following
Wellington's offensive in the spring of 1813, Marshal Soult's army of 88,000 men attempted to lift the siege of the French‐held towns of San Sebastián and Pamplona in northern Spain. Wellington met Soult at Sorauren near Pamplona on 28 and again on 30 July and won hard‐fought victories.
