Zula ♀ Modern coinage derived from the tribal name of the Zulus. The Zulu people of Southern Africa formed a powerful warrior nation under their leader Chaka in the 19th century, and controlled an extensive empire. In 1838, under the leadership of their ruler Dingaan, they ambushed and slaughtered a group of some five hundred Boers. Not surprisingly, this given name is chosen mainly by Black people proud of their African origins.
