Nymet Rowland & Nymet Tracey Devon. Nymed 974, Limet [sic] 1086 (DB), Nimet Rollandi 1242, Nemethe Tracy 1270. Celtic nimet ‘holy place’ (probably also an old name of the River Yeo). Manorial affixes from possession by a man called Roland in the 12th cent. and by the de Trascy family in the 13th.
