Chislet Kent. Cistelet 605 (13th cent. copy), 1086 (DB). Possibly OE *cest, cist ‘a chest’ (perhaps here ‘a cistern’) + (ge)lǣt ‘a water conduit’. A hypocausted Roman building has been found here.
