pecan nuts From the American tree Carya illinoensis, a species of hickory nut. A 60‐g portion (ten nuts), is a rich source of selenium, vitamin E, and niacin; a good source of vitamin B1 and zinc; a source of protein and iron; contains 40 g of fat, of which 10% is saturated and 60% mono‐unsaturated; supplies 400 kcal (1700 kJ).
